Music's in My Soul.

Recently, one of my biggest pet peeves are people who say they don't like a musician or a band because of their label or where they play shows.
I just need to get this out.

Why would it matter what label they are signed to? I'm so tired of hearing things like "Oh, I don't like the Jonas Brothers because they're on the Disney Channel and are signed to Disney." OK, WHO CARES?! Honestly? That is one of the worst reasons I've ever heard. I guarantee that most of you would take a contract with Disney if you had the opportunity to live your dreams and do what you love doing. They did and I give them credit for that. Just because they're on Disney doesn't mean they are like The Wiggles or The Doodlebops, and write songs for little kids, they write songs for teens. They want to have fans their own age and their songs are things TEENAGERS relate to. What seven year old do you know has gone through hard break-ups with long time girlfriends/boyfriends? Exactly, They are more focused on the teen and older fans. If they were signed to Geffen Records, would that make a difference? If they never were on Disney would you like them? Most of you are probably saying, no.. but you're lying. Get over your pride and listen to music you enjoy, NO MATTER where they're signed.

Next, I get so annoyed with people who say they don't like a band because the venues they play in (ie. Skateland) All bands have to start somewhere. There are a lot of great bands that play local venues to gain a fan base in a city. All of the bands you listen to played those shows, too. Stop dissing bands because they're playing small shows. So A Skylit Drive and Forever in a Day played at Skateland. Do you see where they're going now? Touring with Chiodos. Yeah, Chiodos.

It's about the sound, the lyrics, the music, not where they're from or where they play.
I miss back when the music was all that mattered. If they had talent, people reconized it. Stop hating bands for illegit reasons. To me, it just makes you sound unintellegent.
